We've Completely Switched to Catering! Hope to see you at a private event soon! :)

Wedding filled with mega love by: Emma & Terry

As much fun as it was to work those incredible food truck festivals and fairs, the pandemic gave us many reasons to switch our business model up. We will no longer be offering our services for vending to the general public. It honestly comes down to all the extra time and fees involved in those events.

When festivals set up, they typically ask trucks to come anywhere from 2-4 hours before the event starts. When the event ends we are typically there an hour after it ends. Participation fees range from $50-$400 per day depending on the event. That does not include the local permits required to work in towns different than the one you are based in. And the fees see to get higher and higher every season, for no other reason than the increasing popularity of food trucks.

So for this business to still be the light of my life (besides Player 2, Mose, and Beasley) I needed to get rid of some of the parts that no longer work for us. We thank all of you that made your way out to see us at our various scooping spots and hope to see you soon!

With Much Love,
Players 1 & 2

2021 Catering, Catering and more Catering!

Screen Shot 2019-07-11 at 1.39.18 PM.png

This year we booked up faster than any previous year. As I am sure you are aware, many businesses had to pivot their models to best weather the pandemic and we are definitely one of them. There’s a large buy in for public events.

A one day event often requires:

-4-6 hours more of our time (load in times are typically hours before the event starts)
- a town vendor’s permit ( $100 avg)
- a fee for the event itself ($200 avg)
- a temporary food license ($100 avg)

That means that before we can even start to make money for ourselves we need to serve 115 customers one scoop of ice cream. And that’s not including the permits we already hold to do business in general.

We like most business, needed to maximize this season and the very best way we can do that is by private catering. It’s looking like we won’t be doing any public events in 2021 but hope to be back out for public vending in 2022. I will say that 2022 is ALREADY booking so if you were thinking , “Maybe next June…” please reach out well before.

Looking forward to getting back to it!!! <3

Now Booking: What's left of 2021 and already working on 2022! :)

BrookeJon021.jpg

Well….WHAT A YEAR IT’S BEEN! I hope you all are healthy and staying as positive as possible as we continue through this very REAL pandemic together. (One of us makes ice cream and the other teaches Physics….this is the house that Science built. Mask up, y’all!)

Us?! Truthfully, we are exhausted. Player 2 is a teacher by trade and if you know, THEN YOU KNOW. I am in AWE of him on a daily basis. The expectations on society on a whole, to be productive and get through this all with koom-bye-ya unity and can-do attitude, is maddening. It feels like I’m being gaslit on a daily basis. Life is currently pretty difficult for most people and has been for almost a year. Literally no aspect of it is “easy” or convenient anymore and sometimes it’s REALLY tough to remember that this is temporary.

But that’s the whole jag of life, right? Learning to adapt is essential to species survival. That’s why we meditate. It’s why we go to therapy. It’s what we strive our WHOLE lives to try to accept. The only thing that is guaranteed is that eventually, things will change. The key is taking the fear that holds you back and telling it, “Hey Buddy, I know that fear used to keep my ancestors from getting eaten by a bear, but I just don’t need that right now.” (As the crunchier folk say: It no longer serves me.)

I’m not sure that I’ve ever shared this with you but in the very beginning of this business I had a bit of a freak out. We were in the process of building it. We had just finished the commercial kitchen space and were working on the truck when I turned to Player 2 and just started CRYING. “What if we made a huge mistake? What if people don’t like it? What if WE don’t like it? What if we started something we just hate doing?!!!!” And this beautiful, rational man, looks me right in the eyes…. smiles and says, “Then it’s the time we had an ice cream truck.”

Just like that, I relaxed. That though had literally never occurred to me. I smiled at the thought of having a life full of adventures. I smiled at the thought that I get to have them with Player 2. And I’m smiling now because I love sharing that with you guys. Because no matter where we end up years in the future, you guys will always be a part of that time we had an ice cream truck. And that’s pretty rad.

As always, THANK YOU. Between you and Player 2, I am a pretty lucky person.
We can’t wait to see you again!!

Brooke :)
